How to enable your computer to be accessible from anywhere using LogMeIn?

If you want to access your computer from a remote location, this article will assist you setting up the same using LogMeIn (www.logmein.com).

LogMeIn is a service provider that helps you connect to your computer remotely free of cost with basic features. Pro services for the same are paid and have additional features. You can start with the free service and upgrade to Pro whenever required. 

Steps:

1. Start the web browser on the computer that you wish to enable for remote access.

2. Go to www.logmein.com and click on Get LogMeIn Free.

3. Enter Your e-mail id and choose the password. Click on Go button.

4. This will start downloading installation package. A dialogue box will appear having three buttons. Run, Save, Cancel. Choose - Run.

5. Welcome screen will appear. Click on Next button.

6. Choose Typical option on next screen.

7. Type the description for your computer in the next step. Type a meaningful description of your computer. This description will help you in choosing the right computer in case you install LogMeIn on multiple computers.

8. On the next screen, type an access code. This access code is like a password to connect to this particular computer.

9. Next screen will ask you to choose the installation location. If you are not sure about this, choose Next button.

10. Installation is complete. Please make sure you leave this computer switched on and connected to internet. LogMeIn software should also be in the running state.

To access this computer remotely

1. Go to www.logmein.com and log in using your e-mail id and password. (As entered in step 2 above)

2. This will show you the list of your computers available for remote access. Computers which are switched off or not connected to internet or on which LogMeIn software is not running will be displayed as Offline.

3. Click on the computer name you want to access. The complete desktop of remote computer will be displayed in new window. Maximize this window and work on remote computer as you work normally on this computer.
