How to enable your computer to be accessible from anywhere using Remote Desktop?

If you want to access your computer from a remote location, this article will assist you setting up the same using Microsoft's Remote Desktop feature.

Requirements:
1. One static IP address. You can ask for the same from your Internet Service Provider(ISP).
2. Operating System - Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 and above.

Steps:

1. Right click on My Computer icon on the desktop and then click Properties.

2. Click on the Remote tab in System Properties window.

3. Select - Allow users to connect remotely to this computer.

4. Click on Select Remote Users button. This step will help you choose the User ID to which you want to provide access for this computer.


 

5. Select the user whom you want to permit to connect remotely and click on the Add button.

6. Click on the Apply button to close the System Properties dialog box.
